Tell Google exactly who you are.

Schema is a small block of code that spells out your business name, address, phone, hours and service area in a format search engines read reliably. Fill in what you know and copy the code onto your site.

  • Only include details that are true and also show on your website.
  • Pick the most specific business type that fits. If none does, the general options are fine.
  • Use one block per location. Keep it in step with your Google Business Profile.
  • Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us.

Your business details

Pick the closest match. The general options are fine if nothing fits.

One or two plain sentences. Match what your website says.

A link to the logo image on your site.

A link to a photo of your work, shop or team.

Address

To find them, right-click your spot in Google Maps and click the numbers at the top. Longitude is negative in the US.

Opening hours

Where you work and where to find you

Separate them with commas.

Like $$ or $100 to $500.

One link per line, each starting with https://. Facebook, Instagram, Yelp, Nextdoor, BBB and so on.

Where to paste it

  1. Paste the whole block into the <head> of your homepage, or the page for this location if you have more than one. Most site builders have a spot for this, often called custom code, code injection or header scripts.
  2. Check that it matches your website and Google Business Profile: the same name, address, phone and hours.
  3. Test your page in Google’s Rich Results Test (opens in a new tab) and the Schema Markup Validator (opens in a new tab). You can paste the code or your page address.
  4. Update it when your hours, phone or address change.

Schema helps search engines read your details correctly. It doesn’t guarantee a special listing in the results.
